Satguru
One of the requrements in Sant Mat is to be initiated by a competent Master; a Saint, Satguru. Saints and Satgurus are beings of the highest attainment, they have attained God realisation are fully enlightened. Saints, devoid of ego, reflect the peace, humility and purity of a devout life, though perfectly liberated, may outwardly appear ordinary, we worship the divine within them, not their personality or humanness, they are honored as exemplars of faith. There is always at least one Satguru (God Incarnate) physically alive in this world at all times in a continuous succession; before and after the life of Jesus as well.
The followers of some of these Saints founded the world's major religions, usually altering the teachings in the process. Christians, for example, added threats of damnation in Hell. But more importantly, after a Satguru, a Master physically dies and leaves this world, there is nothing, that He/She can do for anybody except for the relatively few people that He initiated.
The primary function of each Satguru is to tune His/Her Initiates to the "the Sound Current", or "Audible Lifestreem", referred to as the "Word" in the Bible. He personally guides each of them thru the upper levels, or plenes of existance; as true Salvation is achieved by only: by reaching these planes. There are five levels above the physical universe and to assend there can not be achieved without the help of a Living Saint, a Satguru. (astral/emotional, mental, causal, supracausal, god-plane)
People who continue following only
orthodox religions with a physically dead Master, are denying themselves the opportunity
to reach these higher regions, until they accept Initiation from a living Saint, a Master.
The Nature of Guru Protocol
Satgurus are the masterful guides and mystical awakeners who bring us into the fullness of spiritual life. Guru protocol defines the traditional ways of relating to one's spiritual preceptor to draw forth his wisdom and blessings and fully understand his inner nature. Guru protocol can be understood in three parts: devotional acts, codes of harmony and prohibitions.
Devotional acts include serving the guru in love, chanting his name and meditating on his inner form as the embodiment of the Divine.
Codes of harmony include seeking his blessings, obeying his directions, keeping no secrets from him and honoring his presence.
Prohibitions include never
contradicting, or arguing with him, never criticizing him, nor listening to criticism by
others, not imitating his dress, not standing or sitting above him, not assuming authority
in his presence, nor uttering words of falsehood or contempt, and not initiating
conversation or asking questions unless invited.
The Satguru's Unique Function
To transcend the mind and reach the ultimate goal, seekers need the guidance of a satguru, an enlightened master who has followed the path to its natural end and can lead them to the Divine within themselves.
The satguru, perfected in his relationship with God he/she is the devotee's spiritual guide and preceptor, friend and companion on the path. Having become religion's consummation, the satguru can see where others are and know what their next step should be.
Nothing is more precious than the first soul-quickening, life-awakening darshan from a guru (a gaze to the eye of a seeker). Nothing is more central to spiritual awakening than these progressive initiations, he bestows. A satguru is needed because the mind is so cunning and the ego is a self-serving mechanism.
It is he who inspires, assists and guides the
seeker toward the true self; toward his/her own truth, slowly incinerating the karmas.
